2017 Summer exhibition at The Warehouse Gallery “New Lease on Life”

The Warehouse Gallery, nestled in the heart of the Shenton Park community, is proud to launch their summer exhibition called New Lease on Life.  Twelve local emerging artists have expressed their take on summer in 30 pieces of art that are featured on the walls of this neighbourhood café. The exhibition is launching on Friday 3 February 2017 at 6.00pm and all locals are welcome to join the official opening night.

The programs and exhibitions at The Warehouse Gallery aim to encourage the participants’ arts practice, develop new skills by exhibiting work in a safe space, and to provide a sense of belonging.

One of the exhibiting artists, Clinton Price, notes in his biography that “Being creative gives me life, what I’m feeling or experiencing is felt in my art. I have depression, social anxiety but through art I can manage.”

The gallery has seen a steady increase in the number of artists applying to exhibit their work. A great result as the purpose of the Gallery is to open up more opportunities to people, who, for various reasons haven’t had an opportunity to showcase their work before.

The Warehouse Gallery, to be found inside The Warehouse Café, is an inclusive gallery space operated by UnitingCare West which seeks to support people experiencing social or economic disadvantage.

You can support The Warehouse Gallery and Café by dropping in; enjoy a delicious coffee whilst viewing great art, in the months to come.
