On Thursday 5 November UnitingCare West launched its 2015 Christmas Appeal at Target in Westfield Carousel.
Ian Moore, Executive Manager of Business Development and Strategy, addressed those present and spoke about the importance of the UnitingCare West and Target Christmas Appeal.
Students from Tranby College in Baldivis sang Christmas Carols, showcasing the Christmas spirit and generating much excitement among shoppers.
The students also completed a ‘trolley dash’ where they were divided into groups, provided with a dollar value and age category, before selecting toys for children most in need from the store. By the end of the launch there were several trolleys full of gifts that have now been delivered to Santa’s workshop at UCW ready to be sorted, selected and wrapped for delivery to disadvantaged families.
This year marks the 24th year that UnitingCare and Target have partnered to brighten the lives of thousands of Australian families. UnitingCare West is calling on the West Australian community to rally together and help those most in need.
“This year has been a really tough year in our community. We have seen people finding it hard to make ends meet and thankfully through this appeal we can help give them some relief,” Sue Ash AO, Chief Executive Officer of UnitingCare West said.
“Fortunately we have so many generous members of the community and we are relying on them to dig deep, show compassion and support our appeal.”
